It
is with great pleasure that we congratulate our longtime friend and client, Alligator Records’ Bruce Iglauer for being
named one of nine Chicagoans of the year by The Chicago Tribune.
Alligator Records kicked off 2011 in February with the release of the 2-CD set
The Alligator Records 40th Anniversary Collection. In June, during the Chicago
Blues Festival, Iglauer received a proclamation from Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel.
Mayor Emanuel honored Iglauer’s contribution to the city’s musical heritage on
a night dedicated to the label’s anniversary, featuring performances by blues
icons Lonnie Brooks, Eddy “The Chief” Clearwater, Michael “Iron Man” Burks,
Rick Estrin, and Shemekia Copeland. Among the many other highlights of
the label’s 40th anniversary, in July, rolled out a new Alligator Records website
built by 305 Spin featuring over 3,000 track samples from over 280 albums by
more than 100 of the leading blues artists from yesterday and today. 305 Spin
is very proud of everything that Alligator Records celebrated in 2011, and we
wish them continued success and growth in 2012 and for many years to come.
Check out the website at www.alligator.com. And while you are at
it join us in congratulating Bruce on Facebook at www.facebook.com/alligatorrecords.

American Water & Air in Springfield, Illinois
American Water & Air is a family owned business and was incorporated in July
2002 by Dirk and Sarah Homeier in Springfield, Illinois. The Homeiers created
this company to fulfill a growing demand and need in central Illinois for high
quality water filtration. American Water & Air began with a passion that the
Homeiers have to meet a global need to be a financial support for mission work.
In addition to the financial support, a secondary goal was to provide a water
filtration resource for missionaries to be able to drink their tap water and to
use their filtration as a means of reaching their surrounding neighborhoods to
share the Gospel message.
The mission at American Water & Air is to: “Glorify God by providing people with a better quality of life with clean water, integrity, and a genuine concern.”
In its humble beginning, American Water & Air operated out of a two bedroom apartment that was owned by Dirk’s father. The spare bedroom served as the office and phone room employing two appointment setters.
At first, the administration side of the company was managed by Sarah, while Dirk focused on sales and service. All installations were outsourced to an independent contractor. While Dirk and Sarah had no children yet, they began fostering children in their home and were committed to raising those children full-time. That is when Sarah became a stay-at-home mom and Dirk’s sister, Renee, took over the administrative responsibilities which she holds to this day.
Within five months, production and space demand called for a larger location, so American Water & Air was moved to its present location at 722 W. Jefferson.
They hired their first phone room manager in January 2003, and in addition the first water technicians were added to their staff. With the increased production, and new sales staff, the need for a full-time installation and service technician was essential. They purchased their first service van and created the first van graphics of their kind used by an Ionics dealer in the United States.
By 2004, the need arose for yet another service van and service technician to meet the demands of the growing production.
In 2006, American Water & Air was recognized by Ionics, Inc. in the class of “Top 10 Dealers in the United States” for production in 2005. They also began the first T.V. ads in 2006, hired the first full-time administrative assistant and full-time customer service specialist. Due to the Do Not Call Law and the changing dynamics of the telemarketing industry, they restructured staffing to more efficiently run the business of setting appointments as they still do today.
The following Brand names are just some of the softeners they offer service for existing units: Ionics, Culligan, Hague, Kinetico, Sears (Kenmore), Home Depot (GE), Lowes (Whirlpool), Lindsay, Penney’s, RainSoft, Wards, Ecowater, Water Right, Menards, and many more.
They offer water softeners and conditioners, reverse osmosis, whole house air purifiers, whole house carbon filters, problem water systems for bacteria, iron bacteria, sulfur and iron, u.v. purification, electrostatic air filters. They also offer complimentary water testing, installation for any brand of water systems, salt delivery, air duct cleaning and sanitation, and service for any make or model of water systems.
At American Water & Air, they are proud of a hard working staff. They have been able to attract a team of hard-working, self-motivated people who are committed to doing their best work, every day. They like to think of their business as a bus which is moving in the direction they want it to go (toward being the best service provider of water treatment systems in central Illinois), and on their bus they have on the right people. They don’t hire people and teach them to be nice…they hire nice people!
They treat their staff with respect, and they in turn, treat you with respect. They proud staff is committed to giving every customer a friendly experience on the phone; by speaking with a person who knows their products and who wants to help you in every way possible. They understand that they are building a relationship for the long run. Therefore, they treat customers like they would want to be treated.
They know your issue is important to you, so they do everything possible to address your issue the same day. If you are not getting all the service you deserve from your current water source, consider American Water & Air. They’ll work harder for you!
If you are having problems with your existing water treatment and conditioning equipment, call American Water & Air. Factory trained and certified service technicians will provide quality customer service on almost any make or model of water treatment and conditioning equipment. You can trust their technicians to diagnose and repair your system correctly the first time out! To schedule a service call, please call American Water & Air at 217-544-8677 or request service online.
Today, Dirk and Sarah have six children and live in the Springfield, Illinois area. Dirk continues to develop his ideas and company goals by seeking wise counsel and being open-minded to the changing dynamics of the culture. All the while, retaining the same zest and fervor for enriching people’s lives with water filtration as he did the day his vision started. They are members of the Water Quality Association and Springfield Area Home Builders Association.
